Hon Lutamaguzi Ssemakula, the MP for Nakaseke South has told Ugandans to stop demonizing the current Parliament because it’s their only last hope in rectifying the country.
The MP while on a local political talk show said that despite their shortcomings as MPs, they are the only hope. Without them, the State will be an entire mess.
According to the MP, he doesn’t blame any Member of Parliament in the house for their character. This is because these legislators are a reflection of the people who vote for them.
“People should stop demonizing Parliament because it is the only institution they are left with, despite our shortcomings. I do not blame anyone in Parliament. The Members of Parliament represent the people who voted for them. Parliament is a reflection of Uganda. Things are upside down,” the MPsaid.
It should be noted that recent months have uncovered a lot of filth in the Ugandan Parliament. Massive corruption which has been proven and some that is yet to be proven on either sides of the government or opposition is the order of the day. Some MPs are even behind bars on charges of corruption.
A lot of funds have been swindled by some of these MPs either for their benefit or for their constituencies at the expense of the whole country.
There are even plans by some concerned citizens to march to Parliament to protest the untold levels of corruption. However, according to the NUP MP, Ugandans should have faith in the legislature because apparently, it’s the one trying to salvage the nation.
