Stop Feeling Entitled To Our Spots – Bebe Cool To Younger Musicians

Musician Big Size Bebe Cool has come out to advise the younger generation of musicians to stop feeling entitled to the positions of the top artistes.

For the past couple of days, the topic of the big 3 has dominated the news headlines.

Some musicians and the public feel that they had their time to shine and it got done. They should therefore leave space for the new crop of artists to enjoy their time at the top.

However, others feel that these 3, Dr Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine will always remain the top 3 are actually untouchable. They should therefore be reversed.

Bebe Cool in a local interview said that he doesn’t understand where these younger artists get this entitlement from. The Love You Everyday singer advised them to just do their music. The people will elevate them to these positions if they feel they are worth it.

Bebe Cool added that even as them, they didn’t give these spots to themselves. It was rather the people who did so after seeing their efforts.

Further Bebe Cool said that they didn’t have to ask the Afrigo Bands and other artists of the time to give them space. They just did their music and the public eventually noticed them. Now both of them coexist with the Afrigo band and all are still singing.

“I don’t get where these younger artists get this entitlement. Who said that we have to go away from the scene for you to perform? Just do your music and the public will notice your work and put it up there. We didn’t rank ourselves, the public did and that’s because we did music.  We didn’t ask for those we found singing like the Afrigo band to give us space,” he said.

He also added that these artistes don’t know that there is a crop of new artistes behind them. Therefore as they are focused on removing the big 3, they should be wary of the upcoming singers.

These might also likely displace them from the spots they occupy.  And besides music is a business and not a hobby.
