Sudan Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok under House Arrest

Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is currently facing house arrest after an unidentified military force occupied his house. The news is according to Al Hadath TV, a local news network, which cited unidentified sources.

Both the government and the military are yet to comment on the development.

The reported house arrest comes shortly after Sudan’s military arrested Hamdok’s media advisor.

Unidentified military personnel also arrested four cabinet members and a civilian member of the ruling sovereign council according to local reports.

The arrests, as well as Abdalla Hamdok ’s detention at home, come a month after a failed coup attempt. At that time, a top source said the plotters had attempted to take over the state media building in September but failed.

Former leader Omar al Bashir got overthrown after months of street protests in 2019.

In separate news previously reported by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, the former president of Sudan, Omar Al-bashir finally stepped down after continuous protests across the country, according to the State news media. The military was expected to make a crucial announcement later in the today.
