“Our joint forces responded immediately upon receiving the information and are aggressively pursuing the suspected ADF rebels. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” police spokesperson, Mr Fred Enanga said in a statement on Tuesday.
The suspected terrorists are now on the run after the swift response by security forces in the area. The UWA spokesperson Mr Bashir Hangi verbalized his ultimate sorrow over the tragedy at Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The deceased included UK and South African citizens and a Ugandan tour guide whose identities are yet to be revealed.
Brig Felix Kulaigye, the army spokesperson also said the attack happened at around 6:40pm.
Furthermore, this attack comes just days after the president indicated that Ugandan fighter bombs had hit four ADF targets inside DR. Congo.
This marks a third cross by suspected ADF rebels into Kasese since the tragic June 16th raid on Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Secondary School.
During this raid, 38 students and six locals were hacked to death and set ablaze.
Two foreign tourists murdered in Queen Elizabeth
