Two Foreign Tourists Murdered In Queen Elizabeth National Park

Sad news coming in indicate that two foreign tourists and a Ugandan national have been shot dead by allegedly the ADF rebels. This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Fred Enanga.

“We have registered a cowardly terrorist attack on two foreign tourists and a Ugandan in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The three were killed, and their safari vehicle burnt. Our joint forces responded immediately upon receiving the information and are aggressively pursuing the suspected ADF rebels,” Enanga said.

According to Bashir Hangi, the spokesperson of Uganda Wildlife Authority, these assailants set the car in which the trio was traveling in ablaze.

He further said that UWA is working hand in hand with the different security agencies to find out who could have orchestrated this heinous act.

Meanwhile Enanga confirmed that these were ADF rebels. And security forces are already pursuing these criminals.

Sources further state that the deceased trio were attacked between Lake Nyamununka and Kabatooro. This is in the south western district of Kasese.

However, this is not the first time that tourists are being attacked at this national game park. It should be recalled that in 2019, American tourist Kimberly Endicott together with her guide Jean Paul Mirenge were kidnapped. The government had to pay a ransom for their release.

Furthermore all this comes at a time when President Museveni provided an update on the ADF fight. The UPDF had attacked and destroyed some camps of the ADF which is based in DR Congo.

Additionally the President said that bombs meant to be planted in churches in Kibibi, Butambala were discovered by the Police and diffused.

After the passing of the anti homosexuality bill into law months ago, the US and UK warned their citizens about the East African country.

They said that it is insecure with rebels and since then cases of insurgents have increased. This incident is expected to have a very negative impact on Uganda’s tourism sector.
