The singer got his maiden breakthrough on the international stage over the weekend and left Nigerian singer Fireboy DML astonished.
Suuna Ben has over the years mastered his own skill of deejaying. Categorized as local and fake by some people, the Masaka-born has carved out a niche of fans for himself.
The humble Suuna Ben however doesn’t do ‘his thing’ alone but with another Masaka-born, Mbaziira Tony.
Speaking about his first stand on an international stage, Suuna Ben said that Fireboy might export his famous Binyanya Nya style to Nigeria.
“It was a dream come true and I want to thank everyone who has supported us through this journey. When we landed that gig, many people were like let’s wait and see what they will do. Some of them expected us to fail but we nailed it. Even the Nigerian was left astonished by the performance. He will even export the Binyanya Nya style back to Nigeria. So don’t get surprised when you start hearing the Timaya’s incorporating our style in their music. Just like the Awilo Longombas started singing about the Rasta Rob’s and Peter Ssematimba’s when they came here in the 90’s,” Suuna Ben said.
His announcement at the Guinness-sponsored concert a few days ago left people up in murmurs. This is because some people actually had no idea about who he was. Some knew him but considered him to be too local and raw for such a high classed show.
However, he put up an electrifying performance that left the crowds fired up. In fact, he was more entertaining than the main act, Fireboy DML himself.
