“Swearing In Ceremony Should Be Stopped”, Uganda Young Democrats

Uganda Young Democrats, (UYD), is asking the government to stop the swearing-in ceremony of Museveni. It is scheduled for May 12th 2021. They say this ceremony is going to expose especially the young to the new Covid Variant.

Apparently, the new Covid variant is more dangerous to the youths compared to the old people. Ismail Kirya, the UYD leader says the ceremony is going to attract so many people. Among those going to attend are presidents from countries that have been flagged off as danger zones.

“The swearing-in ceremony will expose and position Ugandans to very high risk. This is given the fact that over 20 foreign heads of states, some of which are from countries flagged off as high risk have been invite.”

Ismail points out that unless Dr. Jane Ruth was lying about the new variant otherwise the swearing-in ceremony should not happen.

“Unless the minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng lied to the nation that the Indian variant of Covid-19 was also detected in Uganda, the country can’t risk organising such nature of event under prevailing health circumstances.”

Uganda Young Democrats appealed to the organizers of the swearing-in ceremony to rethink the matter through. He has also urged Ugandans not to let anything that is going to expose young people to danger come to life.

Meanwhile, about the ceremony, about 4000 people have been invited. However, Minister Judith Nabakooba, assured Ugandans that they will test everyone at the event. According to her, there is no reason for anyone to fear in regards to the event.
