Tanzania Finally Avails Covid-19 Statistics Publically

Tanzania has recorded 100 cases of Covid-19 since the third wave hit the globe according to President Samia Suluhu Hassan. She said this during her maiden press conference on Monday at State House in Dar es Salaam.

She said that 70 of these 100 patients are in a very critical condition.

This became the first time Tanzania ever made Covid-19 statistics to the public in over one year. The fifth phase administration of the former President, late John Magufuli, had at some point denied the existence of Covid-19 in the country.

Since she ascended to power, President Hassan has employed a totally different approach towards the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said as soon as she swore in as president, she immediately embarked on adopting globally accepted ways of fighting the spread.

This also included getting vaccines for the people.

The Tanzanian government says it will spend at least $470 million in the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines.

This same budget will also cater partly for the sectors that were severely hit by the pandemic.

The president also said the country has finally registered for the Covax package. Therefore, it will be ready to administer the vaccine doses in the near future.

More still, she stressed that the vaccine will be voluntary to give citizens a chance to choose what is best for them.
