Tanzania Starts Covid Vaccination Today, A Year After Denying It’s Existence

Tanzania will today start covid vaccination after the country acknowledged that the decease is indeed real. Former president, the late, Magufuli had said Covid is a scam from the western world. He had even stopped the publishing of covid statistics so that people don’t live in fear.

However, with the change in leadership, President Samia Suluhu came with her own energy. She instructed the covid task force to immediately start publishing covid statistics.

On top of this, they reinstituted the SOPs so that the spread doesn’t even get worse during the third wave. Part of the measures to contain the virus is vaccination which is kicking off today.

Dar es Salaam, Health Minister Dorothy Gwajima will be launching this move as she gets her jab. The programme will begin with the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“The launch of the vaccination exercise is historic to our nation in the fight against the coronavirus. The administration of vaccines is one of the measures that is trusted world over in the fight against viral diseases including Covid-19,”  Gwajima said.

This is a great step for Tanzania because it means they have finally accepted the existence of coronavirus. This is the first step to overcoming this virus.

Though the country released guidelines on 25th July 2021, Tanzanians have not complied effectively. We hope vaccination is going to work best.
