Teachers Advised To Be Conversant With ICT In Their Profession

Specialists from the Education sector have tasked teachers with blending Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in their teaching profession.

They said this will be the only way to match with the current trends taking the modern world over.

The call came through on Friday May 20th 2022 during the 11th graduation ceremony where 1,388 teachers graduated from National teachers college in Kabale district.

Jonathan Kamurana, the Ag. Commissioner Teacher, Instructor Education and Training in the Ministry of Education spoke on behalf of the Minister of Education and sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni.

He said that in the past, the use of ICT was a luxury but now with immediate effect, it should occupy an important position in all teacher training programs.

He further asked graduates and teaching staff at National teachers’ college, Kabale to their enhance ICT capacity. This is irrespective of age and level of Education.

Kyambogo University vice chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka said that ICT is one of the skills set opportunities and that people who cannot use it are going to lag behind. This is because technology is advancing every time that goes by.

However, the national teacher’s college Principal Dr. Moses Wambi decried the sorry state of student halls of residence and staff quarters at the college. He therefore called for government intervention for refurbishment.
