The Aviator Game Case Study: What Went Wrong

If you’re here, you must have heard about the Aviator game at some point. It’s a known multiplayer that was developed by Eclipse Studios and released by 501 Industries in 2017.

Since that point, Aviators underwent several stages of evolution and regression. Where is it now, and what made it less popular than its creators were hoping for? Let’s figure it out together.

How Aviator Appeared in Steam

Eclipse Studios kept working on Aviators for several years. They wanted to create a blend of a battle and strategy-based game, coupled with elements of adventure.

The hope was to appeal to as many players with different preferences as possible, boosting the game’s popularity.

Initially, Aviators was introduced in an early access mode. It means that the game wasn’t finalized, but it was complete and comprehensive enough to introduce it to Steam players.

Anyone interested in it could buy it, play it, and express their beta-thoughts, pointing out errors and any other technical issues.

Eventually, with enough feedback from the gaming community, Eclipse Studios wanted to perfect the Aviator game and release a fully updated version.

Their plan didn’t come to fruition, though. In 2025, Aviators is still in testing mode. You can try out the Aviator game by following the link http://www.aviator-predictor.ke.

The Premise of Aviator

Here is how you can play Aviators:

  • First, players select their character. There are many customization options, from eye form to body shape and color.
  • Then, the search for a team begins. You must wait for at least 1 other person — preferably 3 — to join you.
  • The same goes for the opposite team. You have to wait for everyone to gather before starting a round.
  • When the game begins, you must fight your opponents and make sure their Aviators are dead. Each successful blow gives you bonus points.
  • The team that gets the biggest number of points wins. If there is a draw, you have to try again during overtime.

Apart from the standard team-on-team battle, you also have to hide from outside threats, like in-game animals.

If you are inattentive, your character might get eaten, dropping your chances of victory.

Why Aviator Didn’t Succeed

Despite all the effort and love from fans, the Aviators didn’t become really successful. Only some people kept playing the game, and soon enough, their numbers began to dwindle, too. Here are the reasons for this outcome:

  • Every new game struggles with getting enough players, and Aviators requires 4×4 teams to be played.
  • Long search for players and quick rounds made the game too underwhelming for many.
  • Some people considered the game too complex because it required significant stirring skills.
  • Most players wanted to play on their own instead of waiting for other people to play with.

Aviators was an ambitious project for sure. It failed for understandable reasons, but there is a chance that it might be picked up again.

More people have started to discover it in 2025, which can potentially give it a second chance.
