Hon. Timothy Batuwa, Jinja City Division West MP, has said Uganda is driven by some wind and not just the government. He says Uganda is at the mercy of the funders and whichever direction they show the country, Uganda follows.
However, he says it can get better because the country has so much good work on paper. According to him, it’s time to let what is on paper manifest.
“The government should deliver everything it has promised in the manifesto. The Parish Development Model was good on paper and got support in Parliament, even from the opposition legislators, but it hasn’t kicked off. If we are to transform this country, the seemingly good projects we have put on paper should kick off.”
Batuwa says Government should start looking at the natural resources we have with a keen eye. This is what countries that are developing are doing.
Therefore, Uganda can copy the same. However, he says the government has made so many attempts in the bid to develop the country but it has not come up to so much as of now.
“We have made so many attempts in the right direction, especially when you read what the government promises, but it ends at that. We end up in the wrong direction.”
