The Kabaka Proposed To Me Via E-mail – Nnabagereka

The Nnabagerekka of Buganda Kingdom, Sylvia Nagginda, has revealed that she has severally fallen off her Christian path over the years.

During an exclusive interview with NBS TV, the queen said that she grew up in a very Christian family. However, she’s on different occasions let God out of her sight.

She added that if she met the 36-year-old version of herself now, she would tell her to be a bit more patient. She would also make sure to keep God in her sight.

“If I was to meet 36-year-old Slyvia Nagginda, I would tell her to be more patient. Most importantly, I would tell her not to let God out of her sight. I grew up in a Christian family, but I have been on and off with my faith.”

Furthermore, the Nnabagereka revealed the age at which she got married and this was 36. According to her, she was very amazed at the love people have for the Kabaka in and out of the kingdom.

She went ahead to reveal that her wedding with the Kabaka, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II happened in 1999. This was 6 years after the restoration of kingdoms in Uganda in 1993.

She added that no one really prepared her for the challenges ahead in in her new role. However, God used her innocence to help her navigate through this tide.

Apparently, prior to her marriage, she didn’t actually envisage what she was diving into. She was, however, ready for marriage since she was in the evening of her youthful years.

She also intimated that the proposal from Kabaka Mutebi wasn’t romantic at all.

It was by email and without much words as he told her that if she’s ready, he’s also ready. The Nnabagereka didn’t hesitate one bit and right away told him that she was ready for marriage.

“I got married when I was 36. The title (Queen or Nnabagereka) describes what’s expected of you. I was impressed by the love the people of Buganda have for the Kabaka.

He is held in high regard both in and out of the Kingdom. Kingdoms were restored in 1993 and our wedding happened six years later in 1999. I don’t think orienting the Nnabagereka into her role was something anyone thought about.”

She also added that she feels her destiny with Kabaka Mutebi was pre-determined. This is because her life would have been completely different if she had stayed either in Uganda or the UK.
