The Only Big Artiste I Know Is Red Banton – Jamal Wasswa

Struggling singer Jamal Wasswa has also come out to speak about the self-proclaimed ‘The Big Three’ in Ugandan music. The singer said he doesn’t know anything about them and the only big artiste he understands is Red Banton.

Jamal has been in the music industry for long but he is among singers who reached some point in their careers and suddenly slowed down. And in Uganda’s music industry, when one slows down, he is overtaken by other musicians, especially the upcoming ones.

They are so talented and hungry for fame that they don’t take anything for granted. Once given an opportunity to go on, they use it very well.

For Jamal, the fact that he is a talented artiste, sometimes gets gigs to go and perform although he doesn’t have new music.

In a recent interview with Spark Television, Jamal was asked what he thinks about Uganda’s music industry and the three big artistes Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Jose Chameleone.

According to the singer, those three are not the big artistes in Uganda. They haven’t done anything special or even taken the industry to any other level.

He said he only understands one big artiste known as Red Banton because the kind of music he sings is very special.

“Who are the three big artistes? I don’t think people understand when they use that word. The only big artiste I know as a person is Red Banton not anyone else. Others are struggling to make it like any of us,” Jamal Waiswa said.
