President Only Scheduled The Speech To Sympathize With Us – MP Jinja West

Member Of Parliament, Jinja West, Hon Timothy Batuwa said the president only scheduled the speech to show Ugandans sympathy. He says Museveni simply wanted to let Ugandans know that the country is in a corner it can’t get out of.

“What the President is doing is to sympathize with us. His speech was one to comfort people, telling them we are in a certain corner that we can’t get out of.”

According to Batuwa, the President is a politician who always knows what to say when given chance and opportunity.

“The President is a very big politician. When you put him in front of Ugandans, he knows what to say. You can see an intelligent person when he is speaking, but what he says is not implemented.”

“Ugandans hoped that maybe the President would speak about subsides or reduction in taxes. Ugandans are now confined to the economic mistakes of the NRM. The President is in touch with what is happening but as a witness, not a solution giver. There is no hope. Even the budget doesn’t give hope,” he added.

While speaking yesterday, the president said there is no waivering of taxes as everyone was suggesting. He says the real solution to all this is more production.

“The real solution to the high prices is increased production. Produce more to deal with the shortages.”
