Singer and politician Dr Hilary Kiyaga alias Dr. Hilderman has said that there is no money in Parliament contrary to popular belief. He went ahead to say that he wouldn’t advise anyone to join it.
According to the Mawokota north legislator, he was richer and financially stable when he was still musically active. He would perform at different events and would go home with his money with no strings attached.
However, as of now when he receives his parliamentary salary and turns on his phone, he gets calls asking for help much more than the money he got.
“I will honestly tell those that see us in Parliament and think there is money, there is not. It’s just seeing us running up and down and people think we are rich. I will tell you for a fact that I was richer than I am now when I was still in music. I could pocket like 8m shillings in a weekend. However now I earn around 20M Shs from Parliament but the moment I switch on my phone, those that need help from me, the 20m can’t help in any way,” he said.
It should be noted that Hilderman replaced NRM top gun Hon Amelia Kyambadde. It however seems that she’s coming back to reclaim her seat in the upcoming general elections.
Meanwhile, the Mazongoto singer also gave his opinions about the recent appointment of Eddy Kenzo as a presidential advisor. He said that he thinks the appointment is just strategic for President Museveni.
Since the 2026 general elections are around the corner, this appointment is merely for mobilization.
