Thomas Tayebwa Jokes About Stopping Arsenal From Taking Corner Kicks Through Parliament

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has joked that he’s going to sponsor a private members bill. This will seek to stop English Premier League side, Arsenal from taking corner kicks.

It should be noted that Tayebwa is an ardent Manchester United supporter and has been to Old Trafford a couple of times to watch the Red Devils play.

He was one of those excited for the midweek clash between long-term Premier League rivals, Arsenal and Manchester United. The game however ended in Arsenal’s favor with two goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba.

Archbishop Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, a renowned fan of the Gunners took to X to banter with the Deputy Speaker.

“What a game! Proud of @Arsenal! My brother @Thomas_Tayebwa, may God comfort you and all @ManUtd fans. Next time better,” the Archbishop said.

This saw Tayebwa take the joke a notch higher saying that enough is enough. He will seek to block the Gunners from scoring corners anymore. This is the only way that Man U will stop Mikel Arteta’s side from winning.

“Congratulations, Your Grace. I have just recovered. And I will talk to my colleagues in @Parliament_Ug we see how we can sponsor a private members’ bill to ban corner kicks in any game involving @ArsenalFC_fl. I know @rggoobi will give us a certificate of financial implication, though @KiryowaKk will try to frustrate it. That way we shall manage you ha ha ha.”

Although this was clearly banter and jokes from two individuals, it triggered some people. They took to the comment section to blast the Ruhinda North MP.

They asked him if he thinks Arsenal is in Uganda or if he has shares in it. Others told him to pass laws that stop the ‘Speaker from looting the country.’
