Trump Embraces Shooting As Sacrifice For Democracy

During a campaign event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Donald Trump cast the recent assassination attempt, where he was shot in the ear, as an act of sacrifice for democracy.

Despite the attack, Trump’s supporters remained unwavering in their support, with many expressing that the shooting would not deter them from attending the rally.

The event was held indoors, allowing security officers to carefully monitor who entered and to cut off potential threats from outside the rally. Former Secret Service agent Jason Russell noted that there would be a significant number of agents on site to ensure Trump’s safety.

Supporters compelled to attend after assassination attempt

Many rally-goers, including a 24-year-old named Donald, were motivated to attend the event due to the recent assassination attempt.

Some, like the Upcott couple, felt obligated to show their support after the shooting, while others, like Laura Schultz, refused to let fear stop them from attending.

Despite the increased security measures, some attendees remained concerned for Trump’s safety, with Wendy Upcott and Laura Schultz expressing their worries.

Investigators have yet to determine a motive for the 20-year-old gunman who was killed by Secret Service agents.

JD Vance makes first appearance

The rally marked the first time Trump appeared on the campaign trail with his new running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. This comes as Biden’s campaign has had to pause events due to the president’s positive COVID-19 test.

In his speech, Trump took the opportunity to criticize the Democratic party, stating that they have “a couple problems” and don’t know who their candidate is, while also dismissing growing calls for Biden to drop out of the race.

According to the former White House physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, the bullet created a 2 cm-wide wound on Trump’s ear that is healing properly, and no stitches were needed.
