Two British Divers Go Missing Diving Off The Coast Of Malaysia

Two British divers have reportedly gone missing off the coast of Malaysia on Tuesday. The divers, a 46-year-old and a 14-year-old boy were taking part in a diving exercise off Pulau Tokong Sanggol, nine miles away from the coastal town of Mersing.

Similarly, a 35-year-old woman from Norway and an 18-year-old French woman also went missing at the very Coast of Malaysia.

On Wednesday afternoon, a search and rescue operation was launched but due to poor visibility, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency dismissed it.

They restarted the search on Thursday morning in an effort to find the missing persons.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is in contact with the resort the Britons were staying at and have offered consular assistance.

It has not received a request to assist. However, it is ready to offer any kind of support to the family of the Britons that went missing.

Malaysia’s borders were closed for more than two years during the pandemic. They only reopened them at the start of the month.

Over 55,000 tourists consequently entered Malaysia in the first four days following the reopening.
