Some benefits of the new license to drivers.
The minister also noted that starting next month, the country will shift from the current Uganda Computerized Driving System to the Uganda Driving Licenses System. The new system is said to be more sophisticated and will allow the issuance of new driving licenses that are recognized more on the international scene.
The Uganda Security Printing Company, which government also partially owns will issue the new licenses.
The commissioner of Transport and Road Safety in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Winston Katushabe says the new licenses will cost Shs50,000, Shs 150,000 and, Shs 250,000. This will be for the one year, three years and, 5-year validity respectively.
The USPC will issue the new licenses from the Uganda Railways Building at Nasser road. It should also be noted that there will be no cash payments allowed at the new facilities.
Minister Gen. Katumba Wamala noted that this is going to be as fast, as efficient and, as convenient as it can be. He, therefore, says there is no need for Ugandan drivers to worry.
