The Ugandan government has expedited efforts to re-established it’s National Aircraft ( Uganda Airlines ) which broke-down seventeen years ago with advance remittance of 6 Aircrafts including 4 Bombadiers and 2 Airbuses.
While at Uganda Media Centre, Azube told reporters that there’s no reason as to why Ugandan people should use other Airlines other than their own, according to Nile Post.
The operation is in pipeline to make sure each and every government official uses the Uganda Airlines during their travels abroad,’’Azuba said.
The government loses money to other country’s airlines and that’s why it should enforce travel on it’s own National Airline.
Guarantee
Many Uganda people have been suspicious over the effectiveness of the 6 Airplanes and the whole National aircraft whose re-establishment efforts are currently on a high-speed.
First and foremost, we need to be proud of what we posses. Our National Airline will be having high-class facilities like others and the fares will be friendly. Why not use it?, according to the minister.
The government of Uganda loses more than US$140 million in sending it’s officials to travel overseas. The re-establishment of Uganda Airlines will bring in 4 CRJ900 aircrafts and of which the 1st one is expected to jet in by January and the remaining three will come in later.
The minister continued and said the 2 Airbuses ( A330 Neo ) will be completed by the year 2020 as they will move in long-distance routes such as India, China and London.
The re-establishment of the Uganda Airlines will however help to improve tourism, decrease on travel expenses and export costs as well as generating more revenue to the government.
