Uganda Cranes will try to win their first game in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications when they play Congo at Namboole tonight. The Uganda Cranes narrowly missed racking up all three points against South Africa in the opening encounter.
Denis Omedi and Rogers Mato scored quick beautiful goals to give the Cranes a 2-1 lead over Bafana Bafana on Friday. However, Thalente Mbatha scored a goal to ensure a share of the spoils in the last minute of the game.
Congo hopes to win two of the campaign’s games when they enter the field because they defeated South Sudan 1-0 in their own backyard.
“The point away to South Africa will count for nothing if we don’t beat Congo at home,” said Paul Put, the Cranes coach who previously handled the Red Devils.
“We shall do all it takes to win at home and the lads are aware of that,” he added.
The starting line-up news;
Muhammad Shaban is still doubtful for the match after missing the draw with South Africa because of an injury sustained during practice. Kenneth Ssemakula and Halid Lwaliwa are both available after missing the Friday match.
This was because of visa complications. It is still unclear if Bobosi Byaruhanga is in camp after the FUFA did not formally notify him when he failed to show up in Pretoria.
Ten minutes into the second half of Congo’s match against South Sudan, Morgan Poaty appeared to have suffered an injury. As a result, the 27-year-old is questionable for his team’s trip to Kampala.
Brunallergene Junior Etou is the favorite to make his only second international appearance in the starting lineup if Poaty is declared unfit to play.
Uganda Cranes Probable Starting Line Up will include Watenga (GK), Mugabi, Kayondo, Capradossi, Lwaliwa, Aucho, Ssekiganda, Okello, Omedi, Mato, Mukwala
