Onduparaka Football Club striker Muhammad Shaban scored the lone goal as Uganda Cranes shocked Slovenia 1-0 in a closed-door friendly match played in Dubai on Friday evening.

They defied the odds to pull off a positive result lovania, currently ranked 51st in the latest FIFA Rankings.

The game was played hours after Uganda Cranes’ arrival in Dubai from Tunisia where the team had lost 2-0 to the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

Goalkeeper Robert Odongkara started in goal for the opening 45 minutes before he was replaced by Salim Jamal in the second stanza of the game.

Details from the match remain scanty since it was a closed-door arrangement between the two countries.

This Sunday on 8th January 2017, Uganda Cranes will take on Slovakia and three days later play the African Champions, Cote D’Ivoire.

Two more friendly games against Slovakia and Cote D’Ivoire will be played in Dubai where the team shifted from Tunisia.

Uganda Cranes’ 17th January 2017 opponents, Ghana are also camping in the United Arab Emirates.
