Uganda Cranes Leave For Saudi Arabia To Play Build-Up Matches

T he Uganda Cranes left for Riyadh – Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening for a training camp. This will get them ready for the upcoming Cecafa Senior Challenge tournament.

The delegation made up of 25 players and 10 officials left Entebbe International Airport last night at 11:00 pm aboard Qatar Airways.

Saudi Arabian Football Association funded this trip and while there, the Uganda Cranes will play two games against the Saudi National team.

Team Uganda will be based in Riyadh and will face Saudi’s The Falcons on July 2 and 5.

The Cecafa tournament is set to take place in mid-July. This training camp will also get the Cranes ready for the FIFA 2022 World Cup-Russia Qualifiers that kick off in September this year.

The team is following the leadership of Morley Byekwaso as the head coach assisted by Simeon Massa. Stephen Billy Kiggundu is the goalkeeping coach.

Enock Walusimbi of newly declared Uganda Premier League champions Express FC has been appointed as the team captain.
