Renowned coach Paul Put, leading the Uganda Cranes towards the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), recently announced plans for the team to engage in two international friendlies as part of their preparation.
Following a training session at the MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, Coach Paul Put shared with the media that the team is set to face Niger in Rwanda on 18th January. While initial discussions with Senegal are pending, communication has been established with DR Congo, currently in camp in Dubai.
Expressing optimism for potential matches, Coach Put emphasized the importance of logistical considerations and decision-making processes within the football association.
He stated, “We also contacted DR Congo who are in Dubai. I have been talking to FUFA and if we can have visas ready on time, we may play this game on 24th January. But these are things I cannot commit 100% because it the President and his committee to decide, I can only propose.”
As Uganda gears up for its seventh appearance at the CHAN, the team under the guidance of Coach Put aims to surpass previous performances and advance beyond the group stage.
Despite past challenges, the upcoming tournament, scheduled to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from 1st to 28th February 2025, presents a fresh opportunity for the Cranes to showcase their talent and determination on the international stage.
