In 2019, the Uganda Musicians association offices were closed over financial issues and late payments and this was one main factor that made them hold a bit until this year.
Among musicians on Uganda Musicians Association include Sophie Gombya who is the President, Ykee Benda who is the vice president, King Micheal leading the dance hall artistes, Jose Chameleone, Cindy and many others.
However, their Office is apparently located at the National Theatre Building on the second floor, room Number 13, and was opened again earlier this week.
The premises were cleared and paid by State house. According to the UMA president Sophie Gombya, she picked up some unexpected call from the National Theater care takers who claimed that their offices are free to be accessed.
This was after President Museveni receiving lots of complaints especially from musicians who were insisting about finding justice in their sector. Since Museveni is already hunting for people’s sympathy as he hunts for votes come 2021, their offices have to fully open up immediately to carry on with work.
