Uganda Police Threatens To Sue Makers Of “Mukamanayamba” Drink

Uganda Police has come out to issue a statement condemning the use of it’s image in the advertisement of a local energy drink Mukamanayamba.

Mukamanayamba is a popular local drink and even became more of a saying among the people.

The Police threatened the makers of this drink Mukamanaga Herbal Products with a civil suit. If they don’t pull the police clip from this advert, it would drag them to court.

The statement said that police strongly condemned the use of it’s image as content in a the controversial commercial advert.

This statement further reads that the advert deceptively suggests that police’s emergency response team of 999 patrol pick-up and it’s crew actively responded to an incident where a pack of “Mukamanayamba” drink was grabbed by an alleged thief, during the recording of the advert.

Police said that these are selfish individuals who were after their own economic gains.

Police prohibits the use of its logistics  outside of work unless the IGP grants express permission.

These officers are therefore being investigated by the Professional Standards Unit for unprofessional conduct.

Police further said this advert deceives people that the police leadership endorsed the drink and supports it’s consumption on the market.

This is false and defamatory and not a representation of the police institution according to the statement.

It was from this that Police demanded they rectify the advert or else it would run to courts of law.

“As a result, we demand that the commercial firm, pulls out the police content or the entire advert, and halts any further displays on TV and Radios. Failure to do so will call for sanctions in the civil court of law. The Directorate Legal and Human Rights Services has also petitioned the Uganda Communications Commission on the unauthorized usage of our image and content in the Commercial Adverts.” A statement released by police spokesperson Fred Enanga read.

The advert garnered massive attention from people due to the creativity in it.

This drink claims to provide a number of health benefits such as boosting sexual manpower among others.
