President Museveni, while giving a brief security situation in the region said Uganda has witnessed peace and security due to good ideology.
According to him, in Uganda, it’s more of identity than interests unlike on other countries. He pointed out Somalia having insecurity rooted from tribal and clan reasons.
“The work that you see in Uganda is due to a correct ideology. We are patriotic because we believe in interests rather than identity. The problem in Somalia for example is both tribal and clan-based while the leadership in D.R. Congo has had an ideological vacuum,” he said.
Howard G. Buffet, the CEO of Buffet foundation and also close friend to Museveni expressed his gratitude for Museveni’s effort to keep security in the region. Buffet Foundation is involved in peace and security in the Great Lakes Region.
Their current focus is the restoration of security in the D.R. Congo. This is why they were having a meeting with Museveni so that they can work together.
Uganda has taken part in so many peace restoration programs in Africa. Even the CEO of Bridgeway Foundation Ms. Shannon expressed her gratitude towards Uganda’s efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region.
