Ugandan Celebrities Lose Twitter Verification Badges After Elon Musk Cracks His Wip

Twitter boss Elon Musk had earlier this year announced that Legacy verified Twitter Accounts would lose their verification with effect from 20th April 2023. Now, different Ugandan celebrities have had their verification badges on Twitter accounts withdrawn.

However, to regain this blue checkmark, one has to start paying a monthly or annual subscription. One needs to pay $8 monthly roughly 30K ugx and for those that didn’t manage, the blue tick was removed from them.

In this new era, people use social media to communicate easily and some even use it to earn money as they run their businesses.

However, others use these social media platforms for negative reasons. For example, abusing one another and exposing secrets.

As a way of protection, people with huge following are verified. Once that happens, it is hard for someone to hack the account.

The owner of Twitter used that sane advantage to make sure that verified accounts start paying monthly subscriptions.

Elon Musk talked about it but they hadn’t taken action not until this month when celebrities saw themselves lose their verification badges.

Most Ugandan Celebrities took it as a joke and now those that have lost the badges haven’t spoken about it.

The top celebrities in Uganda include Eddy Kenzo, Bebe Cool, Canary Mugume, Faridah Nakazibwe, A Pass, Sheilah Gashumba and many others.

We are not sure if they will pay to get back their verification badges or they will run their Twitter handles without the blue tick.
