Ugandan DJs under their association, the Uganda DJs Fraternity have finally patched up their differences with veteran singer Ragga Dee.
Ragga Dee who is the chairman of the Uganda National Cultural Forum which is responsible for handling the creative industry in Uganda had been accused by DJs for chewing their money. He however came out last week and denied these allegations.
The singer said that it was just a simple misunderstanding which they would sort out soon. And indeed after a meeting held between both parties yesterday, the issue was solved.
DJ Nimrod who is the DJs leader said that Raga Dee had explained everything to them in detail.
Nimrod said that the Fraternity had protested the Ugx 10M shillings disbursed to them.
This is because they even actually didn’t know it had been deposited to their account. Besides, they thought that it was the actual funding but they were told it was to set up an office. Nimrod however added that now they want actual funding from the government.
“We are now ok with Raga Dee because everything was explained to us in detail. The money was to set up an office, a website and the necessary items for an association. The person who had signed for the money hadn’t notified us so that’s why we refuted having received the funds. We also wanted to know why musicians were given 60m and us just 10m of the 800m shillings released by the government. All that has been explained and now all we want is actual funding from the government although Raga Dee said the money hasn’t yet been released. To clear the air, Raga Dee didn’t eat our money,” Nimrod said.
