Ugandan Musicians Transition Into comedy To Remain Relevant

Most musicians have transitioned to comedy to remain relevant during this covid period. Since March 2020, the concerts have been on hold and artists have not been having much to do.

Some have been singing during weddings, however, the president limited weddings until further notice. The president directed that a wedding must have only 20 people and someone may just find it hard to invite an artist.

Due to this, some musicians, aside from producing music have decided to venture into comedy as well. Some of them use Tiktok and others use their YouTube channels. It has worked for some of them to remain in the faces of the people. Actually they have widened their scope of entertainment business.

The new comedy-musicians include among others; Spice Diana, Stecia Mayangya, A pass, Mary Bata among others.

This move though, has angered some comedians already in the industry. According to them, singers should stay in their lane because they have not evaded their business.

This however is not right because just last year, Maulana and Reign produced a song with Bettina. It worked for them but no musician came out to complain about it.

In any case, lockdown has made mistakes of the people creative. People just can’t wait till it’s done to get back to business. For the kind of business musicians do, they really need to stay relevant to keep in the scene.

Another thing is that, no one has complete rights over anything especially business because competition is allowed. Otherwise, it is a wise move to remain in the eyes of their fans.
