Ugandan Police Are Number One Offenders Of The Law – Hon Muwanga Kivumbi

The Bukomansimbi MP Hon Muwanga Kivumbi has lashed out at Ugandan law enforcement and called them the number one offenders of the law. The MP while appearing on a political talk show said that the Police for instance has been acting unconstitutionally for many years.

They, therefore, cannot be the ones to enforce the rule of law and order yet it’s broken by themselves.

According to the MP, the Police think that their actions are erasing political crimes. However, their actions are actually sowing it.

“The police in Uganda have been acting in an unconstitutional way and offending the law. They cannot be the first people to offend the law and then be the people to enforce the law. The mentality of police is that they are criminalizing political activity unlawfully. The police, army and political leadership are breaking the law and acting unconstitutionally. They are the first offenders of the law,” said Muwanga Kivumbi.

Additionally, the MP gave an example of how President Museveni always addresses rallies in the middle of roads. He wondered why the Police have never stopped him yet when the Opposition does it, they are chased and beaten up.

Furthermore, Muwanga Kivumbi also said that on different roads in Ugandan cities, there are many gatherings such as those of Balokoole.

They do all kinds of mannerisms and the Police always look on without action. However, it’s when the Opposition does the same that they swing into action. This is apparently to prove that they have things under control.
