Ugandan Truck Driver Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Ministry of health confirms one new coronavirus case, and that is none other than a Ugandan truck driver bringing the total number of cases to 75 in the country.

The patient is a Ugandan truck driver, 43, who entered Uganda from Kenya via Malaba border entry point.

The patient was among the 1,116 samples that were taken from truck drivers and tested yesterday on Friday (24th-April-2020).

Minister of health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng confirmed that a total number of 1,533 samples were tested on 24th April 2020 and results of only one person came back positive.

According to her tweet, 1,533 are the total samples taken as of Friday, the 417 samples in the community returned negative, total number of confirmed coronavirus cases as of now stands at 75.

However, the Ugandan truck driver becomes the 18th truck driver who has tested positive for the deadly virus. The ministry of health experienced a sudden increase of coronavirus cases by 11 on Thursday and all these were truck drivers including 5 Kenyan truck drivers and 6 Tanzanian truck drivers.
