Kalifah also said that he doesn’t see anything wrong with what the Big Talent boss did in regard to the late Philly Bongole Lutaaya’s Born In Africa song. He in fact added a block to Philly’s legacy.
Most people claim to love Philly but didn’t even know his songs. They only checked them out after the BET Award winner stirred them with his song according to Kalifah.
“Ugandans are very jealous people. They just don’t like seeing their fellows progress. I think they got mad after seeing Kenzo grab a Grammy nod. They couldn’t tolerate him becoming a very bright shining star. This is why they concentrated on the bad and ignored the good. Personally, I see nothing wrong with what he did. Most people claim to have been big fans of Philly but didn’t even know his music. Kenzo added something to the late’s legacy. Most young people who didn’t know the song will decide to go and check the original version,” said AgaNaga.
The Stamina singer saw almost the entire nation gang up on him after his Born In Africa remake. Things became more heated when Kenzo drew a comparison between him and the late Philly.
Politicians, fellow artists, and the public all came for his head. A couple of mediocre remakes such as Bruno K’s and Fresh Daddy were all remade to counter Kenzo’s. But as they say that big is big, Kenzo’s is still standing and garnering views. Whereas the others have vanished in a space of days.
