According to Munyagwa, Ugandans don’t have loyalty. They always switch from one party to another. This is why it’s taken so long to dislodge the current government from power. They always leave one party weakened and jump to a new one.
“Ugandans don’t understand much; if they did, Mr. Museveni wouldn’t have ruled for this long. Ugandans don’t stay loyal to one political party. Their support will shift, and new leaders will emerge,” he said.
The ex-legislator also talked about the current situation between NUP president and Nyendo Mukungwe MP, Hon Mathias Mpuuga. He said that the two politicians can’t work together and this is weakening the Kavule-based party.
Additionally, he revealed that it’s not essential to be best friends in a political party. However, there should be some common ground which the two don’t have.
Besides, if Bobi Wine has MPs loyal to him in the current Parliament, they are not more than 3. And for Mpuuga, by the time he’s done running his campaigns, he will have about 30 MPs supporting him according to the former MP.
He said;
“After running his campaigns, Mpuuga will have the support of about 30 MPs from NUP. And if Kyagulanyi has loyal MPs in Parliament, there are not more than three,”
Furthermore, speaking about Mpuuga’s thanksgiving ceremony in Masaka, Munyagwa said that it was a symbolic event.
However, it lost meaning the moment NRM commissioners were called to address the gathering. Nonetheless, the former LOP managed to show that he’s not as politically weak as NUP thought.
