Daniel Kaluuya, the British-born Ugandan actor and writer has received his first Golden Globe nomination. These are the 78th Golden Globe awards and Daniel is nominated for his role in the movie ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.
The movie is an American film based on a story by King, Berson, Kenny, and Keith Lucas. It displays in detail, the betrayal of Fred Hampton. It is all about the civil rights movement and stars Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield as Hampton and O’Neal respectively.
Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Aston Sanders, and Martin Sheen are in supporting roles as well.
Warner Bros Pictures is yet to release the movie on February 12. Although it has not made its way into cinemas, it premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on Monday.
Daniel is nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actor in a motion picture. However, in the same category is, Sacha Baron Cohen – The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Jared Leto – The Little Things. Also, Bill Murray – On The Rocks, and Leslie Odom Jr – One Night in Miami is in the same category.
The annual awards ceremony announcement came a little late this year, as it happened two months later than the previous announcements. The hosts for the virtual event will be Jessica Parker and Taraji p Henson.
Kaluuya, with this nomination, stands a big chance of nomination in the Oscars later this year.
