UNEB Postpones Release Of PLE And UCE Results Due To Covid-19

The Uganda National Examination Board, UNEB, has said they are reorganizing to see the best timing for the release of results. This has come a week after they announced that they were just about to release PLE and UCE results.

After the presidential address on Friday that left the country in lockdown, many things changed. However, UNEB has stressed the point that they are still going to release these results.

“We have not suspended the release of exams but we are going to reorganise according to the new guidelines [Covid-19 guidelines] that have been given to us by the government and they have been given to everybody. So we have to re-organize and work with the Ministry of Education and see the best timing of releasing these exams,” UNEB spokesperson, Jennifer Kalule said.

She says they need time as UNEB to reorganize how this process is going to go. In a period like this where transport is limited and cases are escalating, they need extra vigilance. Schools can’t go to pick results from the UNEB headquarters, so, it means they have to use other technology means.

However, we are not sure remote areas will have access to their results in such a period.

UNEB conducted these exams in March 2021. A total of 749,811 candidates were able to sit PLE exams. 333,775 taking UCE and 98,379 UACE.

Currently, schools are under lockdown due to the resurgence of coronavirus in the country. This means UNEB and the ministry of education have to be intentional in whatever plans they are making.
