Unlike In Uganda, Ruto And Raila Can Sit And Talk After Elections – Andrew Mwenda

Celebrated journalist, Andrew Mwenda, has commended the Kenyan election and according to him it’s way different from Uganda’s type of elections.

According to him, opposition in Uganda is not yet at that stage of maturity where after an election, life can still move on. However, he says Ugandans should stop patronizing the election process of other countries because in Kenya a lot of things happened.

“I understand that it’s human or Ugandan nature to always see the grass as greener on the other side. A returning officer was shot in Kenya. Four Commissioners stormed out of the Bomas of Kenya.”

Ofwono Opondo too agreed with Mwenda about the state of the opposition we have in Uganda. Opondo says when opposition senses defeat they begin to taint NRM’s name.

“We are dealing with a bad opposition today compared to the one we had in 1989. We are dealing with an opposition with a criminal intent. Once the opposition senses that they are about to lose an election, they try and smear mud that the NRM can’t allow to hold a fair election.”

Conversely, Hon. Ssemujju Nganda says he was impressed by the elections in Kenya. He commended the freedom in holding rallies without the interruption of anyone.

However, much as most people were impressed by this election, Raila Odinga still insists the election process was tampered with.
