Brian Avie has been in the music industry for almost four years. He is not only a musician but also a songwriter. He said that he writes for different musicians. However, most of them who approach him want songs that are consumed mainly on the local market not internationally. Having musicians that have tried to go international and have failed a long the way, there is fear in artists not even to risk. They would rather focus on making money for locally.
For Brian Avie, he said that he is proud of musicians like Joshua Baraka who have tried to make it international. He said that other musicians need to learn from him so that they can make their dreams wider than what they have musically.
“Musicians in Uganda have one challenge. They majorly produce music for local consumption, yet the dream should be bigger than local market. I am so proud of Joshua Baraka, he’s trying his best to ensure his music crosses borders,” he said.
It should be noted that Joshua Baraka is traversing different countries with his music. He is also making music collaborations with international artists, a thing many Ugandans have failed.
