According to the force’s social media pages, this fellow was captured with 2 other insurgents. Therefore this accounts for all the terrorists who launched the attacks last month.
“Today, the UPDF has captured the commander of the ADF group that attacked Ntoroko last month. He was captured with 2 other combatants. This accounts for all the terrorists that launched the attack. None has gone back. Bravo to gallant combatants.”
It should be recalled that the ADF rebels crossed from nearby Congo about 2 weeks ago. These then wrecked havoc in Ntoroko district.
They killed civilians and injured others. The UPDF however quickly swung into action, killing a number of them whilst capturing others.
As paraded by the UPDF, most of those who were captured were child soldiers. These were as young as 12 and most revealed that they were from DRC villages.
Meanwhile, a couple of guns were also recovered in the battle that ensued. Some of the insurgents who tried to flee back to their camps are said to have drowned in River Semliki.
The UPDF together with the Congolese armed forces, the FARDC about a year ago launched an operation in DRC against the ADF camps in what is known as Operation Shujaa.
This followed several bomb attacks in the capital, Kampala. The Forces have been reporting continued success in this operation.
