Video Of UPDF Soldier Drunk Insulting Fellows Divides Social Media Opinion

A video of a drunk UPDF soldier that appeared on social media over the weekend has left many people with divided opinions. The soldier threw a number of insults at his fellows who were cuffing him.

He appeared all drunk and wasted as he was given the phone to talk to a senior officer he claimed to know. During this, he referred to those arresting him as dogs.

“Hello Afande, I know that you live in Kabamba but tell these dogs to go back (gambira eji emiterere yawe etahe, gambira ezi embwa zijende),” he said to the anger of his arrestors who told him to watch his mouth.

It was rather a surprise to see some people defending his behavior on social media.

“I like his confidence and how he called them emiter’re & after realizing that they didn’t understand what it means, he called them embwa, and of course, they’re dogs carrying hate, bias & tribalism, to hell the dogs go..”

Some however did not approve of this officer’s behavior including the head of the Uganda prison service Mr Johnson Byabashaija. The Prisons chief said that this officer was completely out of order.

“He is completely out of order. UIA in uniform??? Incredible,” Mr Byabashaija said.

“Sheer arrogance even in drunken-state … if empires can collapse, what about regimes! Nubians/Kakwa and Langi once reigned over these lands. Oba where are they now? “

It’s not yet clear what crime the UPDF soldier had committed. However, his foul language made the whole saga dirty.
