Vincent Kompany Hits Back At Critics After Bayern Make Winning Statement In The UCL

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has responded to critics after his side made a winning statement in the UEFA Champions League. The Bavarians ran riot against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb with a 9-2 win. This was the Belgian’s first game in the coveted European football competition.

Kompany who is already doing exceptionally well in the Bundesliga landed this job last summer. There was a lot of skepticism about whether he would handle the pressure that comes with such a big club like Bayern.

Other critics pointed out that he had nothing to back up his CV since he hadn’t managed any big team or won anything significant. His most top job was leading Burnley back to the Premier League from relegation.

The Clarets however slipped back into relegation under his tenure. It was therefore a miracle to many that the former Manchester City captain landed a job at one of Europe’s top clubs. However, he’s proving all the doubters wrong.

Speaking about it, the 38-year-old said that the odds have always been stacked against him. His dad was a refugee from Congo. On top of that, his chances of playing in the Premier League and for the Belgian National Team were always less.

“I’ll tell you something in a quick way just to prove a point”. “I was born in Brussels; my dad was a refugee who came from Congo”. “What are my chances of even playing in the Premier League? Winning something as a player? Playing for the national team? The odds were 0.000 something. Now I’m a coach.”

Therefore, the mentality is to keep believing and not listen to criticism according to Vincent Kompany. Additionally, he said that there are a lot of people who say a lot of negative stuff on social media. The key point is to move on and not take them personally.
