In addition to Curry’s 62 points, the Warriors managed to scoop the win from Portland, 137-122 after suffering a very bad season start. Curry’s previous best performance was against the New York Knicks back in February 2013 where he scored 54 points.
Stephen Curry, 32, is the second oldest player to score over 60 points in a single game. The late Kobe Bryant being the oldest. He was 37 when he scored points in his last game before retiring.
‘’I wanted to take him out with 30 seconds left so the 42 people here could give him a standing ovation,’’ said the Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
Coach Kerr said they have seen Curry do a lot of incredible things and it is just a privilege to coach the star. He further said they are incredibly blessed as an organization to have Curry leading the way. They further congratulated him over the performance.
‘’What a performance,’’ Coach Kerr said.
Many congratulated Curry for the milestone achieved over social media. These include his teammate Klay Thompson and LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson.
‘’Sheeeesh @StephenCurry30!! Welcome to the club big bro #62,’’ Klay posted on Twitter.
