Vipers SC managed to make it through an annoying night on Friday in Morocco. This happened after they experienced a demeaning defeat to Raja Athletic club.
The game happened to be the first CAF Champions League group-stage game for the Venoms. However, their expedition began with a colossal defeat.
Raja Casablanca completely cleaned out on Vipers in the game that happened at Mohammed V Complex. They won the game with a 5-0 blowout to take an early charge of Group C.
Hamza Khabba, Jamal Harkass, Roger Aholou, Yousri Bouzok and Mohamed Zrida had a goal each on the day.
Alfred Mudekereza experienced a night he would wish to forget after being responsible for some of the goals the Venoms conceded. Just five minutes into the game, Khabba headed in a seemingly harmless looping ball off a cross from the right.
The Congolese shot-stopper could have done better to save that. Six minutes after that, he fumbled with a free kick which also went in to double Raja’s lead.
One more goal came in the 38th minute of the first half and they went into recess leading 3-0. The other two goals came in the second half.
The only shot on target for Vipers came in the 34th minute after Martin Kizza shot a free kick saved by Ana’s Zniti.
Vipers will now shift its energy to their second group game against AC Horoya from Guinea. The game will be played next weekend at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
