We Are In Dark Situation Now – Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva

Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva has revealed that the club is currently in a dark situation now. This followed their 4-1 loss to Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League.

A hat-trick for Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres who is on fire and a goal from Araujo saw the Portuguese walk away with all the three points. City’s only goal was scored by Phil Foden while Erling Halaand missed a second half penalty when the game was at 3-1.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, the day’s captain Bernardo said that things are not going right for them.

“We’re in a bit of a dark place right now. Everything looks to be going in the wrong way. Even when we play well we don’t score our chances, and we concede too easily,” the former Monaco star said.

The defeat was Manchester City’s third in all competitions this season. They lost 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspurs in the FA Cup.

Over the weekend, their unbeaten run in the Premier League came to a crushing end after Bournemouth’s 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium. This is before Sporting handed them a daunting loss.

Apparently, this is the first time that the Manchester club has lost three games in a row since April 2018. They also conceded 4 goals in a UCL game for the first time since being beaten 4-0 by Barcelona in October 2016.

Guardiola’s team meanwhile is without a couple of first-team starters such as Rodri who suffered a season-ending injury. Kevin de Bruyne started training with the first team this week. This will come as a huge boost for the Citizens.
