Kabuleeta; We Also Have Right To Protect Ourselves, Museveni Responds Kabuleta

We Are Not Going To Have Peaceful Elections As Long As Museveni Is Here, Kabuleeta

Former presidential candidate, Joseph Kabuleeta, has said Uganda will never have peaceful elections as long as Museveni is still here.

According to him, elections are a very messy thing here in the country. Kabuleeta was saying this at a morning show on NBS TV while giving his expectations for the forthcoming elections in Soroti.

Some people reacted and said, Electoral Commission should probably not organize elections anymore.

“In my own opinion… we lose alot of money and lives of the opposers during election times in Uganda… EC should stop wasting money in organizing elections. Let M7 be the president till death and NRM candidates should compete against each other in other positions. RIP Uganda EC,” a one imudembula said.

However, the EC spokesperson, Paul Bukenya said no one will get into trouble if they conduct themselves as they should.

“We need to have law and order maintained while we are organizing elections. We work with Uganda Police in that regard. Lawful conduct is key. You can’t get into any trouble with security if you conduct yourself within the guidelines of the campaign.”

“Security has a role to play during elections and in by-elections in this matter. The law provides for a secure electoral environment. We need to isolate incidences of misconduct, but we can’t say security has no role in the electoral process,” he added.
