We Are Stuck With More than 1500 Passports, Internal Affairs

The Internal Affairs spokesperson has pointed out that they are stuck with more than 1500 passports. Jacob Siminyu said most of the passports belong to individuals who were quarantined as they entered the country at the peak of Covid. Individuals entering the country during that time had to hand over their passports as a must.

“We still have about 1500 passports of those who were in quarantine because it was a condition for the passport to be withdrawn for anyone going for quarantine. They left passports with us and have not yet picked them,” the Internal Affairs spokesperson, Jacob Siminyu told journalists.

Unfortunately, people haven’t even bothered checking on their passports since they left them behind. For this matter, Jacob Siminyu has advised the owners of these passports to pick them. Otherwise, they risk paying a fine of Ugshs100,000. On top of it going through the process of getting a new passport.

“We advise you to come for your passports. Don’t leave them with us.”

He further urged people to only show up at the internal affairs premises on appointment.

“We still have a few people who come to headquarters to get assistance even when not on appointment and those who come early for appointments. We have been patient enough and now we will force you out of the premises if your appointment is not due,” Jacob said.
