Security Chiefs Fail To Explain Random Disappearance Of Ugandans

Security heads have failed to explain the disappearance and whereabouts of Ugandans in the latest security briefing. The fate of these people allegedly kidnapped and detained by plain clothed armed men is now hanging in balance.

Journalists raised the issue of kidnaps during a joint security presser by Internal Affairs Minister Jeje Odongo, IGP Martins Okoth Ochola and the CID Director, Grace Akullo.

In his response, the Internal Affairs Minister General Jeje Odongo first asked for examples of the specific kidnap incidents. He then went on to explain that the Director CID will follow up on the issue and respond in due course.

This follows reports form sections of the public. Reports indicate that uniformed and sometimes plain clothed armed men randomly pick up some people in numberless vehicles. They then take them to unknown destinations and the victims are never presented in court.

Meanwhile, the President said Africans should stop the slave mentality of waiting for Europeans to find solutions to their problems and diseases.

The senior presidential advisor on epidemics and pandemics Dr Monica Musenero as the ministry of health launched the first clinical trial of the COVID 19 UBV-01N therapeutic drug. She says Uganda has significant research infrastructure but it has not been coordinated to give the country products.

Dr Musenero says a study carried out in the process shows that the country has highly skilled scientists. They however lack orientation to product development.

She now says through the presidential scientific initiative on epidemics, they are developing a breed of scientists focusing on product development.
