With 29 points, KCCA is just two points ahead of both BUL and Vipers FC which makes this spot a tight one. They are also just four and five points better than Wakiso Giants and SC Villa who are 4th and 5th respectively.
On a disappointing note, KCCA ended the first round with a loss to Soltilo Bright Stars. However, they were lucky that all teams chasing them faltered except for BUL hence staying on top.
Byekwaso rued the opportunity to stretch the lead at the top. He said they should have won the game or at least earned a point. When asked if it made him happy that other teams dropped points too, he said, “We cannot base on other team’s results to win the title. Had we won, we would have created some space between ourselves and the chasing pack,”
He admitted that the race is really tight and stated that winning will keep them ahead hence winning the title.
“It is still close and we need to fight and win our games. Our intention is to win the title and we shall keep pushing for that. We failed to take it last season, we were second, if we fail this time, it will be very bad,” he said.
In the last four campaigns, KCCA FC has not won a title and this is one of the reasons they sacked Mike Mutebi.
