“We are first human beings before we are presidents and politicians. Let us be humans. If we don’t stand against torture, tomorrow it will be us. We have to hold the President accountable. It is not enough for him to say stop torturing.”
The angry Solomon also recalled in one of the speeches of the president where he said his soldiers properly beat Bobi Wine.
According to him, it’s now double standards on the president’s side for him to say torturing people should stop.
“President Museveni said Bobi Wine was beaten properly; a few months he comes and says, don’t torture. The President is guilty of torture because the back stops with him.”
Solomon Serwanjja also said the president being the commander-in-chief has full authority to stop whatsoever brutality is going on.
Meanwhile, Mwenda said voting opposition will not in any way stop torture because they will do worse.
“Torture is a very bad thing. I’m intrigued that Amin came, criticized Obote for it, and did the same. Museveni came to criticized Amin and did the same. If the opposition comes, they will do worse, they are devils. The opposition is dangerous; they will do worse if they take over power. NUP, FDC are such a bad alternatives to the government. As Ugandans, we need to forsake and avoid NUP and FDC,” said Andrew Mwenda.
